Do you agree?
Does anyone agree with the following quote? "First rule of leadership: everything is your fault".
Why are leaders followed?
Leadership is about getting everything from his team. A good leader is able to get the best of each member of his team and, in order to do so, he must know everybody he is working with.
And when I say "know", I don't mean saying hello and goodbye everyday. When I say "know" I mean understand, having the capability to maximize the member development and thinking about how the members affect each other and are affected by any other source.
People follow those who are examples and models. And the first step to be an example is to care about those who help you to achieve your results.

Saying - Sports Leader
Leaders are present everywhere. Companies are not the only ones that have them. In fact, they are more present outside companies than inside.
A good example is leadership in sports. Brazil's national male volleyball team has a natural leader as a coach. Brazilians call him "Bernardinho" as a nickname. He is famous because he won everything with his players and he is still winning with another generation.
He's got a famous saying: "the distance between dream and accomplishment is called discipline".
I believe that in order to motivate your team, it is necessary to stimulate them to work hard. There is no leader who accomplish his goals without had working.

Elections
I trily believe that one of the most important features of a good leader is the ability to communicate clearly.
First of all, all the truth must come from the inside of the leader and he/she can never forget to be sincere to his/her team. In second place, a leader must know how to communicate the message so no one miss information. In addition, a leader must be able to motivate through communication.
In the last debate we could see two very well prepared candidates when it comes to communication. They were trained and, of course, both were born to be leaders.
You guys can get a lot of tips and good aspects of the presidential candidates. I believe it is a good thing to be done, to follow and watch those who are in the positions that we want to be in future.

Persuasion vs. Manipulation
In order to have a positive impact in people's life, a leader must influence them to achieve common objectives.
This is the most basic definition of persuasion.
Some bosses and managers who consider themselves leaders do not use persuasion. Since they cannot influence people because they are not a good example to be followed, they use power and strenght to force people to achieve their objectives.
This is manipulation. It takes away the chance to say no.

Saying.
For those who are interested in knowing more about being in charge of a group with responsability, follows below a very interesting saying made by Margaret Thatcher:
"Being a leader is just like being a lady. If have to tell others that you are, then you are not".
Connection.
Leading is being a positive influence. How is that?
Look at your own group of friends. You probably have (as I do) some friends who are closer than others. It happens because you have more in common with these closer friends, such as same music taste, funny stories together and more. Now, try to think when your group is deciding about where to go in the weekend. You may have your own opinion but who will also influence that opinion? Your friends or your closest friends? You definitely will go where those who you feel more comfortable to be with will go.
What does this have to do with leadership?
Again, leading is being a positive influence. These friends are closer than the others because they deserve it. They trusted in you in the past in a way that the others did not. They supported you and were there for you when the others were not. And nowadays they really can influence you and the reverse is true.
Therefore, we can say that leadership is related to trust, supporting and connection.
I hope you guys liked the post. There are more examples and practical actions to come!

First.
It has been a while that I had the feeling of creating this blog. And, first of all, I want to thank my Social Media teacher, Becky Carrol, for coming up with the idea of creating a personal blog. It was just what I needed to begin.
Since I was in high school the word 'leadership' has always intrigued me. By that time, I didn't know if 'leading' was just being the captain of the soccer team or the president of a country. Luckly, I found that the essence of leading is much more than a position and it has nothing to do with titles.
Leading is being a positive influence and reference.
I created this blog in order to share some of my experiences and thoughs about this theme and I intend to give more details in my next posts! Hope you all like it!
